It all begins with perspective.

Raising an athlete brings a world of pride, pressure, and emotional complexity.

Whether you’re navigating performance anxiety, trying to set boundaries with coaches or teammates, or simply supporting your child through wins, losses, and everything in between - parent coaching for sports families gives you a place to process, reflect, and lead with clarity.

This isn’t about being a perfect sports parent. It’s about supporting your athlete and yourself in a way that’s grounded, emotionally healthy, and aligned with your values. Parent coaching helps you zoom out - off the sidelines and into the bigger picture of your family’s well-being.

Rooted in evidence-based strategies and real-world experience, this work is customized for the unique demands of parenting in the world of athletics. Whether your child is in youth sports or aiming for college-level play, this space is here to help you parent with more confidence, connection, and calm.

You’re already showing up for your athlete. Let’s make sure you’re showing up for yourself, too.

 FAQs

  • This is a structured, collaborative process that helps parents support their athlete’s development—emotionally, mentally, and relationally. We’ll work on tools for managing stress (yours and theirs), navigating sport-related challenges, improving communication, and parenting from a place of grounded support, not performance pressure.

  • While both parents may attend sessions, the focus is on the parenting dynamic—not your relationship. Coaching helps align your approach to supporting your athlete; it’s not a space for processing deeper relational issues or resolving long-standing conflict between partners.

  • Each session is tailored to your family’s goals. We might explore things like how to support motivation without creating pressure, how to respond to injury or burnout, how to handle difficult team dynamics, or how to talk about identity beyond sport. You’ll walk away with clear tools and a plan—not just insight.

  • You’re welcome to come solo or as a co-parenting team. If both caregivers attend, we’ll work on building a shared language and strategy to best support your athlete and maintain balance at home.

  • Not at all. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching. Many parents come when their child is entering a new level of play, facing a tough season, or just when they want to feel more confident navigating the ups and downs of sports parenting.

  • In most instances yes - many insurance plans will reimburse for parent-only sessions when billed under family therapy codes, even if your child (the identified patient) is not present. If we determine that your child would benefit from being the focus of services, we can discuss how to structure sessions accordingly and assist with documentation for reimbursement.
